13 Mar COVID-19 Information
For the most up to date information on COVID-19 please checkout the ongoing communication provided on COMPASS & the Springside Primary School Facebook page.
I am writing with a further update and advice on COVID-19 from the Department of Education and Training
As you would be aware, the Prime Minister announced a number of measures earlier today that all Premiers have agreed to, on the basis of the advice from Australia’s Chief Medical Officer and Chief Health Officers of the states and territories.
The measures do not include the closure of early childhood services, schools or higher education institutions.
As a result, all schools should continue to operate as planned on Monday and unless and until any further directions are given.
To ensure schools are provided with up-to-date information, daily updates will be provided, including over the weekends, which will be emailed to me and placed on the Coronavirus webpage . I will then forward this information on to our families.
Looks like we were ahead of the game cancelling assembly as one measure announced today was that all non-essential planned gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled from Monday.
Details of the kind of school activities that should be cancelled as a result of this advice are currently being identified by the Department of Education and Training on the advice of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Further information will be provided over the weekend. We have been advised it is possible that school closures will occur in the coming weeks.
It appears we are also on the right track planning to ensure the provision of learning continuity for all students with more discussion about the Department’s Learning from Home website that will be made available in the event that a school closure occurs.
Thank you for your continuing calm and understanding.
